“Good afternoon, I live in a hostel and I’m 70 years old. One day, I saw an announcement on the bulletin board about the opening of a creative therapy group. Both words in the name of the group intrigued me, so I decided to check it out. I had never been able to draw even a simple child’s ball in my life, although I’ve always loved painting, was interested in it, and knew a little about artists. In general, painting had always been a part of my life, but I never knew how to do it myself. When I joined the class, I realized we were just starting to draw. The paints were simple, the brushes were the kind used by children, and this began a completely new and unexpected period of creative development for me. First of all, I immediately had the desire to create something, to make something. Little by little, thanks to our instructor, I gained some skills, knowledge, and an incredible desire to draw, draw, draw endlessly. Our instructor said I seemed to be doing well and praised me. The world around me became completely different for me. I have always loved nature and observed it closely. But since I started these classes, my understanding of color, color combinations, and color composition has completely changed the way I see everything. The sky, the clouds, how they transition from white to gray to blue, blending into the sky. How they float across the sky and how one cloud relates to another, how the grass grows, what color it is at different times of the year, how flowers grow, how they turn toward or away from the sun, how shadows form… It’s extraordinary, truly extraordinary. My inner and creative world has grown. I am very grateful to our instructor for opening up this desire to draw within me. Some skills have emerged, and as I keep painting, they naturally improve. I’m so happy that this world of painting, which I had never even thought of, has opened up for me. It has enriched and beautified my life, and despite my age, I hope to continue painting and enjoying life for a long time. I am deeply thankful that we have such a group and such an instructor. This is everything I can briefly share.
